It does seem like 10 months, but remember that most calendar months do not have exactly 4 weeks (28 days).  The duration of an average human pregnancy is 280 days (40 weeks or about 9 months and 7 days).  This begins on the first day of the last menstrual period (FDLMP), even though fertilization doesn't occur until about 14 days after the FDLMP.

Our moms-to-be can choose to have their baby, or for some, babies ;-), at Deaconess Hospital or Integris Baptist Medical Center.  Click on the hospital name to be directed to websites with additional information about those hospitals' mother/baby departments.  You may contact the hospital by telephone for questions regarding classes for expectant moms and for the option to schedule a tour of the labor and delivery unit prior to making the decision of where to have your baby. 

Your doctor will help decide on one best due date.  Consideration is given to the first date of your last menstrual period (FDLMP) and ultrasound results.  Often a patient is uncertain of the FDLMP.  In that situation the earliest ultrasound measurement of the fetus is usually the most accurate.  Each ultrasound throughout your pregnancy can give a slightly different due date than the one before.  Don't let that stress or confuse you.  Once your due date has been set, later ultrasounds are intended to check for things like normal baby growth and position.
